Wir haben dem Direktor der Environmental Monitoring Group, Stephen Law, ein paar Fragen gestellt.

How did you get in contact with the ASA-Program and what kind of project did you realize with the participants?

In 2005 I EMG was asked to assist one of the interns (Valentina Dillenseger, who was located in the Cape Town municipality) with a document on fair trade. I was impressed with her grasp of the issues and the quality of her work, and was persuaded to apply for 2 interns for the following year. The Participants mostly assisted us in our work with small-farmers and farm-workers in the fair trade system.

What was your most interesting/ funny/ exciting/ unexpected or impressive experience with the ASA-Program?

We had many good experiences over the years. It was thru the ASA programme that we met people from such strange and unknown countries (from our perspective) such as Estonia, Slovakia and Malta. It was also great that they could share some insight from their countries (as consumers of fair trade products) with the small-farmers and farm-workers who produce the goods.

What should the ASA-Program learn for the future?

From the quality of the interns we have hosted, it seems you have already learned a lot!

What do you wish the ASA-Program for its 50. birthday?

Another successful 50 years!
