Contributions of the ASA Programme and the partner institutions to ASA Academia

Within ASA Academia, committed students support your international projects and campaign for global sustainability at your university.

Projects focusing on sustainable design of value chains, renewable energies and sustainable agriculture and forestry have been conducted in previous years, in cooperation with partner institutions from academia, business and the civil society.

The ASA participants are closely integrated into the research activities at the participating universities during the three-month project phase in Germany. Then they continue working on their project for three additional months in a country in Africa, Asia, Latin America or Southeast Europe in cooperation with partner institutions. In addition, the participants attend various ASA seminars, where they receive further training and intensive support. Find out more below.

What can you expect as a partner institution?

Contribution made by the ASA Programme

The ASA Programme offers you support for funding and organisational activities:

  • by advertising your sustainability projects and implementing a proven application process for ASA participants from Germany
  • by preparing participants from the partner country and from Germany for the different project phases through intensive seminars and accompanying their learning process
  • by providing the participants a partial scholarship to cover their living expenses and covering the travel and insurance costs for the project phases in both Germany and the partner country
  • by supporting the participants from a country in Africa, Asia, Latin America or South-East Europe in procuring a visa for a three-month stay in Germany.

What we expect from you as a partner institution

Contribution made by the partner institutions

  • You develop the project proposal with the support of the ASA Programme, together with the cooperating partners in Germany and in a country in Africa, Asia, Latin America or Southeast Europe.
  • You are responsible for acquiring and selecting applicants from the pool of participants from the partner country.
  • The partner institution from Germany (university for example) provides part of the funding and manages the funds for the project phase in Germany.
  • You provide guidance to the ASA participants during the project phase and offer appropriate framework conditions for the project work.
