ASA is a Programme of Engagement Global

About Us

The ASA Programme is an exchange and scholarship programme in the field of development policy. It offers scholarships to young people aged 21 to 35 and brings together around 280 people each year from Germany and partner countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Southeast Europe. Under the guidance of project partners participants work for three or six months on socially just and sustainable projects.

Our Impact

The ASA Programme combines hands-on project experience with comprehensive preparatory seminars: participants gain professional experience in the context of development policy by working on sustainability-focused projects with partner organisations worldwide. Through the seminars, they learn how global interdependencies work and what sustainable development means in concrete terms. After completing the programme, participants apply their knowledge in their studies, professional careers, and civic engagement.

We shape the ASA Programme together with project partners from all over the world: We advise partners on planning and implementing their projects and support them in selecting suitable participants. Project partners from civil society (ASA NGO), academia (ASA Academia) and the private sector (ASApreneurs) benefit from fresh perspectives, technical support, and meaningful exchanges with highly motivated young people from Germany and partner countries — long-term partnerships are explicitly encouraged.
