You receive financial support for participating in the ASA Programme, which covers most of your costs during your involvement in the project. This allows you to focus entirely on your project.
The ASA Programme consists of two project phases, each lasting three months. The first project phase takes place in Germany, followed by the second phase in your country of residence (the so-called partner country).
Participants from partner countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Southeast Europe receive financial support in Germany that includes:
The scholarship rate for the second project phase in the partner country varies depending on the country where the projct takes place and whether it is located in a capital, a major urban area or rural region.
The scholarship is based on the country categories of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). DAC (Development Assistance Committee) countries are accordingly divided into Low Income, Lower Middle Income and Upper Middle Income Countries. The OECD classification is based on the gross national income (GNI) per capita. Countries with a lower GNI per capita generally have a lower cost of living.
